Green Electricity

Opting for green power encourages and in fact requires electricity suppliers to provide electricity from renewable sources. This action also sends a message to politicians that there is a growing demand for this product within the community.

See http://www.greenelectricitywatch.org.au/ for a ranking of green electricity suppliers. Pick a supplier near the top of the ranking. Avoid those down the bottom that may only be offering “old” hydro power. You won’t be changing the world if you pay more for energy from those already-established sources.

Should you opt for 100% green power, you might wish to put this graphic on your front fence. (Click on the image to see a large copy you can print)

Laminated copies are available from BCCAG. The idea, similar to signs that people place on their fence saying “tank water in use” or “greywater in use” is to encourage others to move toward more sustainable living.
